Privacy Policy

Summary
- This is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins, and nothing you type into a calculator leaves your browser.
- We collect personal information in exactly one place: the contact form, and only what you choose to send.
- The site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to personalize those ads. You can opt out, and visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, and Cloudflare's cookie-free analytics for page speed. Google Analytics sets cookies; you can opt out.
What we collect
Reading the site requires no account and no personal information. We don't set cookies of our own, we don't fingerprint browsers, and the cost calculators run entirely in your browser — the job size, tools and hourly value you enter are never sent to us or stored anywhere.
Like any website, ours receives standard technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page, and the time. This is processed by our hosting provider and by Cloudflare (see below) for security and performance, kept for a limited period in server logs, and not used to identify you.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, the name, email address, subject and message you enter are sent to us by email at hello@diyvspros.com. The message also includes the IP address the form was submitted from and, if you arrived from another page on this site, which page — both to help us filter spam and understand which figure you're writing about. Nothing is stored on the web server; the message exists only in our mailbox. We use it to reply to you and to act on what you've told us, and for nothing else. We don't add you to any list and we don't share it. Reply-to is set to your address so we can answer directly.
Hosting and Cloudflare
The site is hosted on servers in the United States and delivered through Cloudflare, which acts as a proxy and content delivery network. Cloudflare processes the technical information described above to serve pages quickly, block malicious traffic, and provide the analytics below. Cloudflare's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy. If you are outside the United States, your requests are processed in the U.S.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read, how visitors
arrive, roughly where they are (country and region, derived from IP address — Google does not store the full
IP address), what devices they use, and how they move through the site. It sets first-party cookies (named
_ga and _ga_…) that give your browser a random identifier so repeat visits can be
counted; it doesn't tell us who you are. We use the reports in aggregate to decide what to write and fix.
We have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features in Analytics, and we don't link Analytics data
to any other information about you. Google processes this data under its
privacy policy; you can opt out on
any site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on,
or block the cookies in your browser. Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before
analytics cookies are set (see below). Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. We also use Cloudflare's analytics to measure page speed. It uses no cookies and no persistent identifiers, doesn't track you across sites, and reports aggregate figures only.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense, and may use other display advertising networks. This is how the site is funded. As required by Google's policies, we disclose the following:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.com in Europe).
- Ad networks may collect your IP address, device and browser information, approximate location derived from IP, and interaction with ads, and may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to do so. We do not receive personal information from them; we see aggregate reporting only.
- For details on how Google collects and uses data when you use partner sites, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google's privacy policy.
Where other networks are used, they operate under their own privacy policies; the opt-out links above cover most of them. Ads have no influence on the content of this site — see our editorial policy.
Cookies
We set no cookies of our own. Cookies you may encounter on this site come from:
- Google Analytics —
_gaand_ga_…, a random identifier for counting visits; kept for up to two years, or until you clear them. - Advertising — Google and its partners, as described above, for ad personalization, frequency capping and measurement. These are the only cookies that can be used to identify your browser across sites.
- Cloudflare — may set a short-lived security cookie (for example to distinguish humans from automated traffic) that contains no personal information.
- Consent — if you're shown a consent prompt (see below), your choice is remembered so you aren't asked on every visit.
Your browser lets you block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking advertising cookies does not affect the site itself; ads may still appear but won't be personalized. The site works fully with all cookies disabled.
EU, UK and California visitors
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. If you visit from these regions, you will be asked for consent before advertising or analytics cookies are used, through a consent management platform that meets the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework and Google's requirements. You can decline, accept, or choose individual purposes, and you can change your choice later from the link at the bottom of any page or by clearing your cookies. Declining does not prevent you from using the site.
California. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising ourselves. Advertising networks' processing of data from California visitors is handled under their own compliance measures (Google uses restricted data processing where required). Your rights under the CCPA/CPRA — to know, delete, correct, and opt out — can be exercised through the contact details below; note that the only personal information we hold is what you've sent us by the contact form.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent or trade personal information, ever.
- We don't run social-media pixels, retargeting tags, session-recording tools, or third-party fonts. The fonts on this site are served from our own domain.
- We don't embed content from other sites that would let them track you (no YouTube embeds, no social widgets).
- We don't build profiles of visitors. Analytics shows us pages and counts, not people; we can't identify you from it and don't try.
- We don't send marketing email. The only email you'll get from us is a reply to a message you sent.
Children
This site is for adults planning home projects and isn't directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, contact us and we'll delete it.
Retention and your rights
- Server logs are kept by our hosting provider and Cloudflare for a limited period (typically days to weeks) for security, then deleted.
- Contact form messages are kept in our mailbox for as long as needed to act on them, then deleted. Ask and we'll delete a message sooner.
- Google Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months, then deleted automatically. Cloudflare analytics are aggregate and contain no personal data.
- Advertising data is held by the ad networks under their policies, not by us.
Whatever your location, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you (in practice: any messages you've sent), ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@diyvspros.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Visitors in the EU/UK also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.
Changes and contact
We'll update this page when our practices change — for example if we add an advertising network — and the date at the top will move. Material changes will be noted here for at least 30 days. Questions about this policy or your data: hello@diyvspros.com or the contact form.
